Polyester (PES) is a widely used synthetic heterochain polymer produced from petrol. This fibre is friction-resistant, almost wrinkle-free, durable, and does not absorb moisture, expediting the drying process. Polyester is often mixed with wool, cotton, or linen to increase durability, softness, and glossiness—and to reduce the creasing of woven or knitted fabrics. Polyester products do not require special maintenance. However, clothing with high polyester content must be kept away from heat and direct sunlight.
